About Us

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ty Wadley and I am the founder and craftsman of Fine Art
Pedestals. After 20 years of working in the furniture business I was beginning to lose my "fire!"
I longed to make one thing at a time and make it the very best that I could. So...after much prayer and
deliberation, and with the encouragement of family and friends, I decided to leave the corporate life behind and establish
Fine Art Pedestals.  Let me tell you; that "fire" has been re-ignited in a big way!
As Fine Art Pedestals we are a family owned and operated business located in Cherry
Valley Illinois. Passionate about woodworking, we are committed to
making the very finest pedestals and custom order furniture available. We are a Christian family of four (six if you count Rusty and Tally, our
dog and cat.) My wife, Penny and I met 18 years ago while both working for Ello Furniture, an upscale contemporary
home furniture manufacturer in Rockford Illinois. At that time Penny worked in the sanding department and I in the assembly.
We married shortly afterwards and were blessed with 2 fantastic children (they are still teenagers, so for now we'll
withhold their names.) When the kids reached school age, Penny left Ello to homeschool our kids. If I may add, she's
doing a wonderful job! Though her focus is on the childrens' education, she enjoys sanding and helping out with
the business. She's a great woman and I'm thankful to have her in my life.
I gradually worked my way up to the supervisory
level at Ello and was recruited by Bretford, a major communications furniture company in the Chicago area, as a
Production Manager. After a few successful years, I became the Plant Manager of Bretford's Franklin Park
Illinois facility.
Starting at an entry level position in a furniture factory (my first job was cutting the crating lumber for the
packers) and working my way up through the various positions over the years allowed me to learn every aspect of the
business of making high quality furniture. I'm very appreciative to the owners and leaders of those companies for
providing me a place to work and enabling me to earn a comfortable living for my family. And I will always be
grateful to the fine craftsmen and artisans who shared and taught me their skills.
We'd love the opportunity to share our passion and make a pedestal for you. Thank
you for visiting our website.
The key to life.
